Metropolitan Commissioner leads MMRDA's cleanliness drive

Mumbai, January 22, 2014 - Mr. U.P.S Madan, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, today led nearly 300 employees of the Authority as he cleaned the area near MMRDA headquarters in Bandra-Kurla Complex and also visited more than 20 sites where the Cleanliness Drive was undertaken. The Cleanliness Drive is a part of an joint initiative undertaken by MMRDA and the members of the Property Owners Association and 'G' Block Association of the Complex who also joined MMRDA in the drive to mark 66th Republic Day along with other various events such as cultural programmes, illumination and beautification of the Bandra-Kurla Complex, and to top it all, the Sonu Nigam Musical Night on January 26, 2015 from 7 pm onwards.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Madan said, "I am delighted to be a part of this movement and participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Today, my colleagues and I have cleaned the area around our office. This is a reaffirmation of our commitment towards a clean and prosperous BKC".

Mr. Madan said that MMRDA's contribution to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan would be an on-going exercise that the Authority would drive in coming days.

The Metropolitan Commissioner further added, "All property owners in Bandra-Kurla Complex have participated in the campaign along with more than five-thousand-strong workforce. All of us need to unite and work together to make this campaign a success and sustainable".

The students of Dhirubhai Ambani School also participated in the Cleanliness Drive in big number.

Senior MMRDA officials including Mr. Sanjay Sethi, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA; Ms. Ashwini Bhide, Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation; Mr. P.R.K. Murthy, Chief Transport & Communications Division, Mr. Sharad Sabnis, Chief Engineer, among others participated in the campaign.
